An Cailleach

An Cailleach's Story
An Cailleach (On Kal-yack) Her Gaelic name means The Crone and she is also referred to as the Hag or Grandmother. Her time is Winter as the leaves die away and the creatures hibernate. A wise eyed woman of many talents – like a female Yoda from Star Wars.
An Cailleach has much life experience to share. Her way of talking to us through our dreams and the exercise below called an Immram or ‘Journey’ is usually very direct and straight to the point but always from a loving and compassionate place. She is a powerful presence and a formidable energy indeed.
The Sacred Sites associated with her are the Cairns at Sliabh na Caillí (Loughcrew, Meath) and the Hag of Beara Stone (the Beara Peninsula, Kerry) and the Cairn at Sliabh Gullion (South Armagh). All are wild, often windy places that hold her strong energy. Representing the Crone in the last of the three classic forms of women, with Maiden Gráinne and Mother Danu, she is the oldest of the triple Celtic Goddesses. The video below was taken in Sliabh Gullion.
